News Philosophy

The more you know about your community, the stronger and healthier it can become! That’s why I believe in local news - energizing and empowering a community is valuable. It can lead to meaningful change and a deeper understanding of your neighbors (allowing you to help them overcome the challenges they face, and share in their successes).

Hobbies, Interests & Community Involvement

Let’s lace up those sneakers, throw on some sunscreen, and get outside! Whether it’s hitting the pavement for a jog, strapping on a helmet and biking a new trail, or strolling through southwest Florida’s great outdoors - that’s where I want to be. Another interest? Cats! Don't ask me about mine unless you're prepared for a lengthy slideshow.

Can contact tracing slow or stop spread of COVID-19?

Contact tracing has been a tool for fighting the spread of HIV for years. Now, experts say it could also help slow or even stop the spread of COVID-19. But is it enough? Contract tracing is being used in Collier County, which has had more than 400 people test positive. “If you do test positive […]

Why Florida’s changing ‘peak date’ could be a good thing

Florida’s peak date of COVID-19 cases has been moved again, this time to early May. It was originally projected to be April 21, so what does the move mean? We asked Dr. Bindu Mayi, professor of microbiology at Nova Southeastern University, about the fluidity of the peak date. “The peak date changes based on what […]

New research shows 6 feet apart isn’t enough in exercising situations, especially in FL

One relief from coronavirus stress is staying active, but new research says if you’re heading outside for release, six feet of social distancing isn’t enough, especially here in Florida. “I really enjoy running. My dad actually got me into it,” said JeAnne Hertle, Vice President of the Fort Myers Track Club. She says the stress […]
