FORT MYERS, Fla. A 21-year-old man is accused of a drive-by shooting and pointing a gun at police.

Jackson Benjamin Nash, of the 2200 block of Jackson Street, is accused of wounding Gustavo Judas Lopez on Sunday night along Broadway Avenue, the Fort Myers Police Department said.

Officers later found Nash in a car matching the description given by Lopez and gave chase. Nash pointed a gun at an officer while abandoning the vehicle, police said.

The officer responded by opening fire, according to police, who didn’t say whether anyone was struck during the exchange.

Nash was taken into custody on the 2200 block of Jackson Street, according to police. He’s facing charges that include aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, fleeing to elude law enforcement, resisting arrest without violence, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Lopez was treated and released at Lee Memorial Hospital for a gunshot wound to his left inner thigh.
