Collier EMS vehicle involved in crash

NAPLES, Fla.- An EMS battalion chief was involved in a crash as he was responding to another accident scene.

The North Naples Fire Department says EMS was responding to a crash near Vanderbilt Beach Road and I-75.

Matthew Redmer was waiting at the light on Airport Pulling Road when he saw the EMS battalion chief approaching the intersection with his lights and sirens on.

“They stopped at the light to wait for the first, a bunch of traffic in three lanes, as they cleared the next three lanes there was another car coming down hit him right in the front quarter panel of the car spun that car out into another car sitting in the turn lane. ems actually hit this car a second time as it was spinning out and came to a rest on that curb over there,” Redmer.

The EMS battalion chief and the woman driving the other car involved in the accident were both taken to the hospital.
