FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK) A Fort Myers double amputee has just redeemed himself after completing the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii.

Jason Gunter swam 2.4 miles, biked 112 miles across a lava field and ran 26.2 miles in extreme heat and humidity.
Gunter finished the Ironman challenge 16 hours and six minutes after starting Friday in Hawaii.

He crossed the finish line Saturday morning at 5:30 a.m. local time.

This is Gunter’s second time participating in the grueling challenge. Back in 2009 he completed the swim and biking portions of the challenge, but collapse with only four miles left in the marathon run.

Congratulations Jason Gunter, you are Ironman strong.
