BOSTON (AP) – Investigators are searching for an unidentified male who broke into a central Massachusetts Army Reserve center and made off with 16 weapons.
Worcester City Manager Edward Augustus said in a statement Monday that the break-in occurred sometime between 6 p.m. Saturday and 1 a.m. Sunday at the Lincoln Army Reserve Center.
Firefighters and police responded to a call just after 8:30 a.m. Sunday from an employee reporting smoke and signs of a break-in.
Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker describes some of the weapons as high caliber, including what he said were at least a couple of rifles.
The FBI says terrorism isn’t suspected.
Descriptions of the missing weapons have been entered into a national law enforcement database.
