Major Cape Coral road paving project begins next week

CAPE CORAL, Fla.- The City of Cape Coral says drivers can expect minor delays during repaving starting on Monday.

Over the next five years, Cape Coral will spend $4 million to repave 14 miles of road. The project begins with improvements to a 4-mile stretch of Diplomat Parkway.

“The road isn’t fix right, they’re just filling the holes and look how bad the holes are. It’s pretty bad when you come up the road here,” said resident Gloria Brown.

“As it is right now, it’s horrible. They’ve been working on it and patching it for a while now,” said Dylan Wilson.

Nelson Road and Kismet Parkway are also set to be resurfaced. The major road paving project was supposed to begin in 2014, but it was put on hold because of a legal battle over the city’s fire assessment fee. Once that was settled, it freed up money to start the city’s paving plan.
