OCALA, Fla. (AP) – A man was critically wounded after opening fire on Florida deputies during a brief standoff outside an Ocala gas station.

Marion County Sheriff’s spokesman Ryan Robbins says Sgt. Daniel Trammell was also shot in the leg during the Wednesday night shooting. Deputies arrived at the Marathon gas station after receiving a 911 call about an armed man inside a vehicle.

Robbins says the man told deputies he had three firearms and was going to kill himself and officers. At one point, he got out of the vehicle and paced back and forth before pointing gun at deputies while holding another to his head. Then he opened fire.

The Ocala Star-Banner (http://bit.ly/1S2mrRS ) reports the unidentified man was in critical condition late Wednesday.

The race of those involved in the shooting wasn’t available.
