2 killed in small plane crash at Tampa airport

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) – Authorities say two people are dead after a small plane crash at a Tampa airport.

Local media outlets report the crash occurred Friday morning at Peter O. Knight Airport.

Tampa Fire Rescue reports the twin-engine Cessna was engulfed in flames as firefighters were called to the scene. Officials say the plane had been taking off and heading to Pensacola.

The victims weren’t immediately identified.

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
