PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.- An additional $1,000 is being offered by the Peace River Riders Bicycle Club for information leading to an arrest in the death of a 14-year-old boy.

Devin Federly was riding his bicycle with friends along Sheehan Boulevard in Port Charlotte on Feb. 26 when authorities say an early 2000s, silver Chevrolet pickup truck crashed into him.

The teen was thrown from his bicycle while the driver quickly fled the scene, officials said.

“The Charlotte County community, and beyond, is heartbroken over Devin’s death, coupled with the fact that the coward who took his life just fled the scene and didn’t even attempt to render help,” said Trish Routte, Crime Stoppers Coordinator.

Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is also offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

Anyone with information on the identity of the driver is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000. Tips may also be made online at www.swflcrimestoppers.org or by texting a tip to CRIMES (274637) Keyword: REWARD.
