Hundreds of Bernie Sanders supporters and delegates held a silent protest inside and outside the Democratic National Convention media tent on Tuesday following the nomination of Hillary Clinton. (Stan Chambers Jr./WINK News) PHILADELPHIA – Bernie Sanders’ supporters took over the media tent at the Democratic National Convention for about two hours Tuesday evening after Hillary Clinton made history as the first female presidential nominee for a major United States political party. Journalists nor protestors were allowed to enter or leave the tent as Philadelphia police officers manned the doors. After Clinton’s nomination, the group stormed out of the convention hall yelling “Walk Out! Walk Out!” “We’re walking out. We’re done with this, man,” one man said, holding a blue Bernie Sanders sign high in the air. Supporters entered the media filing center, where some sat on the ground and remained fairly silent — others wore tape over their mouths. Outside the tent, several rows of troopers were lined up nearly shoulder-to-shoulder blocking the tent. A woman spoke about Clinton’s character in the background. His supporters are parting from his pleas to unite behind Clinton. On Tuesday, Sanders spoke during a delegate roll-call, asking that all votes be given to his former rival. “I move that the convention suspend the procedural rules. I move that all votes cast by delegates be reflected in the official record and I move that Hillary Clinton be selected as the nominee of the Democratic Party for president of the United States,” he said to a cheering audience. Clinton tweeted his comments with the caption “Stronger together.” Stronger together. https://t.co/9x1zuMqFfs — Hillary Clinton (@HillaryClinton) July 26, 2016 Hundreds of Bernie Sanders supporters and delegates held a silent protest inside and outside the Democratic National Convention media tent on Tuesday following the nomination of Hillary Clinton.
