CAPE CORAL, Fla. – The Gulf Coast Humane Society, which once hoped to build a second shelter in Cape Coral, fell short of their $2 million goal, essentially ending their bid at a new shelter. But more than a hundred Cape Coral business owners and private citizens are picking up the pieces to build their own animal shelter.
