CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Two teens were arrested Tuesday on suspicion of stealing a man’s car, according to the Cape Coral Police Department.

Hunter Sanborn, 18, of 4813 Atlantic Court, and a 14-year-old accomplice are facing theft charges after the vehicle’s owner tracked them down through a GPS installed in the stolen car.

The owner told police he was visiting friends Monday night and mistakenly left his keys in the console. When he went to leave for work Tuesday morning, his car was gone.

The car-tracking app on his phone showed his 2016 silver Lincoln SUV was at 1322 S.E. 46th Lane, the owner told police. He went with officers to the address and found two people sleeping in his car. He unlocked the car and deputies took Sanborn and the teen accompanying him into custody.

Sanborn was transported to the Lee County Jail, where he is being held on a $10,000 bond. The 14-year-old was taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center in Lee County.

Police didn’t identify the owner. WINK News is not naming the minor.
