FORT MYERS, Fla. — The City of Palms Classic basketball tournament has excited both local basketball fans and business owners. John Naylor, the tournament’s executive director, scheduled the tournament near Christmas to “bring great economic impact” to the area. Eddie Vozella, executive chef and general manager of the nearby University Grill, is looking forward to the boost in business. “The week before Christmas is usually very very slow so we were hoping this would help fill the void,” he said. Over 530 athletes who played in the City of Palms tournament have gone on to play Division I basketball. The tournament continues until next Wednesday.
