FORT MYERS, Fla. A temporary ban on outdoor burning in Lee County will continue for another seven days, county spokeswoman Betsy Clayton said. The county last week imposed a seven-day restriction on campfires, bonfires and trash fires and gave County Commission Chairman John Manning the power to extend unilaterally. The move was in response to Florida’s most active wildfire season since 2011. Lee County was one of the last Southwest Florida municipalities to ban outdoor burning this year.
