There were 120 boats that partially or completely sank around the island during Hurricane Irma, police said. Police anticipate that number will rise as they continue to search, Marco Island Police Capt. David Baer said. The department is working with owners, marinas and salvage companies to remove the vessels. Marco Island was the site of Irma’s landfall Sept. 10, but many islanders say they’re impressed with the city’s progress toward recovery.
