Cape Coral Police Department says two people’s cars were burglarized outside a fitness center along Pine Island Road in Cape Coral recently.

Cape Coral police say a woman hung her keys up on a key rack inside a fitness center, went to instruct a class, came out, and her keys were gone.

The woman told police she went to her car, where her keys were left inside. But her wallet was gone.

This all happened at a fitness center along the 1100 block of Pine Island Road.

Someone stole another victim’s key from the men’s locker room at the same fitness center. Cape Coral police say two wallets were stolen out of the man’s car, and someone already charged more than $500 on a credit card.

People nearby say they don’t feel safe using public key racks.

“I’ve had some friends had problems with that, having their personal items stolen,” Marlon Galealo said. “So I always just kept my keys on me and taken them everywhere. I always just thought it’d be better to be safe than sorry.”
