A man wanted by the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office for evading the narcotics team and unlawful sex with minors was arrested Tuesday.

According to DCSO, Philip Louis Smith, 46, had active arrest warrants from DeSoto County for fleeing to elude the narcotics unit and driving while a habitual traffic offender.

Smith was also wanted out of Hardee County for two counts of unlawful sex with minors.

Deputies said Smith tried to hide inside of his travel trailer; however, he just couldn’t resist peeking out of the windows to see if detectives were still outside.

A search warrant for the travel trailer was granted by the judge and entry was made, at which point Smith was taken into custody and given additional charges for resisting arrest.
