Winds on Marco Island

Tropical Storm Sally made for some harsh weather conditions on Saturday. From heavy rain to windy conditions, Southwest Florida felt the effects.

Over on Marco Island, visitors from the east coast came to dodge the worst of the storms. They got out on the water to enjoy the waves, at least for a little bit.

“It was a good day to ride jet skis until right now. Until about an hour ago it started getting like this,” ana Ortiz and Diana Infantas said.

They both came over from Miami on Saturday to enjoy the water. Well until…

“The jet ski got stuck one time when we got here,” Ortiz said.

Despite this, Ana Ortiz and her family say the weather is still better than what they were seeing in Miami. But even on Marco Island, it became too difficult for them to enjoy their jet skis.

“It’s very choppy and it’s hard to dock,” Ortiz said.

As they struggled to get back to shore as the rain came down, they were happy to call it a day. Most of them just wanted to dry off.

“If it was up to me, I would stay out there until late, but I got too many kids,” said Tony Infantas.

WINK News Reporter Andryanna Shepard did encounter some flooding on Marco Island as well. Early Saturday afternoon the water pooling began.

If you’re headed out on Saturday night, be mindful of the possibility of flooding.
