A pack of dogs were running without leashes in a popular Cape Coral area when two attacked a couple. But this isn’t the first time that dogs have run free here.

At an empty lot on the 1200 block of Northwest 25th Terrace in Cape Coral, people go to hear the birds and take pictures. That’s what Sharon Ayling and Tom Mitchell went to do until they were attacked by dogs.

The couple noticed a pack of six dogs roaming without leashes, two of which then attacked them.

According to an animal services ITS report, the dogs attacked Ayling first, knocking her to the ground. Tom then got on top of Ayling to try to protect her and get the dogs off.

It was only when the dog’s owner arrived that they stopped attacking the couple. Mitchell and Ayling were both bitten on their feet and legs. Mitchell was even bitten on the ear.

Despite their injuries, the couple didn’t want to press charges because the owner did seem remorseful.

Animal services said there won’t be any consequences unless the couple decides to press charges.

WINK News also reached out to Lee County, but we have not received a response at this time.

Animal services said the dogs are currently under a home quarantine.
