Cape Coral school administrators create fun way to make students want to read. (CREDIT: WINK News) Hector Cafferata Jr Elementary School’s principal and assistant principal figured out a way to inspire their students to read more. They camped out on the roof of the school all night long. Although before they did, the students had to read 30 million words this semester. From 5 to 8 pm they kept the gates open for students to come and see them dancing and throwing down candy. Both came down for a big when it did start to rain around 4:30 am. While the administrators might not have gotten a great night’s sleep they did say it was well worth it. “Not as young as I used to be,” says Dr. Jason Kurtz, the Principal of the school. “So you know, the back doesn’t hold up quite as well. In the fall they hope to come up with another challenge to inspire their students to read and make it fun.
