A San Carlos Park man is facing several charges after Florida Highway Patrol says he caused and left a crash at a red light in Estero.

According to troopers, Nolasco Marcos, 26, was driving north on US-41 in Estero just after 8 p.m. on Friday when he crashed into the back of a car that was at a red light at the intersection of US-41 and Estero Parkway.

FHP says the car he hit was pushed into the car in front of it. According to troopers, two people in the car Marcos hit were seriously hurt. They say the two people in the car in front of them had minor injuries.

Troopers say Marcos fled the scene and was stopped with the help of witnesses to the crash further north on US-41.

FHP says Marcos was intoxicated during the crash and had a BAC of .226 when tested. They say he also did not have a valid driver’s license.

Marcos is facing charges of leaving the scene of a crash with injuries and DUI.
