The Lee County Sheriff’s Office held a press conference on an animal abuse arrest that occurred Tuesday evening.

Sheriff Carmine Marceno delivered a statement during a press conference about an animal abuse call at the Coastal Village Apartments on Three Oaks Parkway at around 5 p.m.

Marceno detailed that the caller observed Beckham McLeod, 20, violently beating his pet dog King.

He then displayed a video recorded of the beatings, highlighting McLeod pulling and kicking the animal.

“A picture is worth a thousand words, and I can describe this one as disgusting,” said Marceno.

A video released by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office shows the savage beatings.

When deputies engaged McLeod, Marceno stated that he was disciplining his animal.

The dog was taken to a local pet hospital, where veterinarians found bruises and swelling around his neck from the kicking.

The animal was surrendered and taken to Lee County Domestic Animals Services.

McLeod was arrested and charged with animal abuse and abuse of a pet.

Marceno then shifted attention towards the Lee County animal abuse registry, promising that the suspect would appear on the registry should McLeod be convicted of his charges.
