The downtown Fort Myers post office has fully reopened, having begun retail operations on Wednesday.

The United States Postal Service location at 1350 Monroe St. officially reopened on Monday; however, services were limited.

The post office location was damaged following the events of Hurricane Ian in 2022.

Still, according to USPS, the delays in the repairs stemmed from the procrastination of the location’s landlord.

Fort Myers Councilman Liston Bochette attended the opening, excited that the post office has returned for locals.

“This is a glorious day! Because we’ve waited so long and been so patient,” said Bochette. “They’re looking shiny. There are new boxes, and there is new everything. It’s a big deal.”

The retail operation hours are Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Lobby services are available 24/7.
