Lehigh Acres man dies after crash on State Road 80 in Hendry County

A 58-year-old man from Lehigh Acres died after a crash in Hendry County on State Road 80.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, an 18-year-old driving an SUV was driving north on Birchwood Parkway at the SR-80 intersection Thursday morning.

At the same time, a 58-year-old man driving a truck was heading west on SR-80 in the outside westbound lane.

The teen didn’t yield to the approaching traffic from a stop sign. Then, the teen traveled into the path of the truck.

The front part of the truck crashed into the right side of the SUV.

After crashing, the 58-year-old man was ejected from the truck. This happened after the truck continued west and eventually rotated and overturned onto the north grass shoulder.

The 58-year-old was declared dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
