2 ejected from motorcycle following crash in Lehigh Acres; both in critical condition

A crash involving a motorcycle and a car hospitalized two people with critical injuries while temporarily closing lanes in Lehigh Acres.

The Florida Highway Patrol and fire crews responded to the incident on Lee Boulevard westbound at 5:36 p.m. on Monday.

According to FHP, a motorcycle carrying a 23-year-old male and a 20-year-old female from Lehigh Acres was traveling east on Lee Boulevard at a high rate of speed on the left lane approaching Colin Avenue North.

A sedan driven by a 36-year-old male was traveling east on Lee Boulevard ahead of the motorcycle.

The front of the motorcycle collided with the rear end of the sedan, ejecting both occupants from their vehicle and onto the road.

The collision caused the motorcycle to erupt in flames.

Both occupants of the motorcycle were transported to an area hospital with sustained critical injuries.

Their current conditions are unknown.

The crash remains under investigation.
