The Florida High School Athletic Association Board of Directors voted unanimously on Tuesday to allow student-athletes in the state of Florida to receive Name Image and Likeness (NIL) opportunities.

According to the proposal that was voted upon, the FHSAA supports NIL education for their student athletes, as “the FHSAA stands ready to help its student-athletes succeed in this new sports and business landscape. By being informed and educated, student-athletes can avoid potential legalor eligibility issues.”

The enacted proposal also states that student-athletes may not use their school’s logo or uniform in these NIL opportunities. Only parents/guardians and the student athletes themselves can negotiate those deals.

NIL collectives are not allowed and it can’t be used as a recruiting tool.
