Recovery never tasted so sweet. After Hurricane Ian left Pine Island fruit farms struggling, growers are mingling with the mangoes to give businesses a boost.

The event gave the community a chance to come together to celebrate the island and how far it has come.

It happened Saturday at Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Church in Bokeelia.

It’s the 28th anniversary, and for nearly three decades, Pine Island has taken pride in its tropical fruit farms and local growers, but more specifically, the mangoes, so, they made sure to start setting up nice and early.

It started at 9 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m.

The event is free for everyone, but a $5 donation for adults is appreciated at the gate to help in the recovery of the island businesses.
