The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office says an accidental shooting at a home on Lakeshore Circle injured two people early Monday morning.

CCSO said that the incident appears to have been an accidental discharge, where two people were struck by fragments.

Neither of the people who were shot were identified, but deputies said the injuries were not life-threatening.

Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Chris Hall released a statement early that morning after speaking with the Major Case Unit.

At this time, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a search warrant at the scene as part of their investigation into a firearm being discharged at this location. Two people sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the incident and are receiving medical treatment. All parties are accounted for, and the person who discharged the firearm has been cooperative throughout our response.

Deputies cleared the scene just before 1:45 p.m.

One neighbor told WINK News he heard a gunshot around midnight.

Neighbors also said they were not surprised something might be going on. They said they see a first responder response in the neighborhood a lot.
