Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis held a news conference in Tallahassee and provided a grim update on Tropical Storm Debby’s impact.

DeSantis confirmed Monday afternoon that there were four deaths associated with the storm.

He said one girl was killed in Levy County after a tree fell onto the roof of her home.

He said the other deaths were associated with traffic accidents during the storm.

Two people were killed in Dixie County and another in Hillsborough County with a big rig truck.

DeSantis also stated that 250,000 customers remain without power but that over 450,000 accounts have been restored since the storm began.

He also said that 9,400 feet of flooding protection barriers were placed around places such as healthcare facilities, and the flood control barriers have been successfully protected.

As of the 2 p.m. update from the National Hurricane Center, Debby remains a strong tropical storm with 65 mph winds, moving north-northeast over the northern part of Florida.
