The Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue celebrated the opening of Fire Station 107 on Thursday at the corner of Leonard Boulevard and Owen Avenue South.

It is just a half-mile away from State Road 82, an area where fire chief Robert DiLallo said they frequently respond to high-impact crashes.

Staff said the 8500 square-feet station is the model for future ones and was approved by voters in 2020.

The ceremony featured community members, fire commissioners and firefighters who welcomed in visitors.

Chief Dilallo believes this is a great addition to the community and should be a big help in emergencies.

“We started noticing that we were having a tremendous amount of calls out in this area, and then once we widen State Road 82, we’re really having a high call volume of motor vehicle accidents out there as well. This was a perfect location because it allows us to make it to our industrial park very quickly, but also to State Road 82,” Dilallo said.

Staff said they hope to have a new station every three years, with the next possible one being built at Grant Road and State Road 82.
