Captiva Island is set to kick off its 10th annual Island Hopper Songwriter Festival, celebrating music throughout Southwest Florida.

The 10th annual Island Hopper Songwriter Festival features over 90 songwriters expected to give more than 140 performances from Captiva to Cape Coral then downtown Fort Myers until it ends on Fort Myers Beach.

The ten-day-long festival will showcase Southwest Florida talent as the local tradition continues to thrive despite major events like Hurricane Ian in 2022.

Singers and songwriters from across the country are expected to turn out, performing at some local favorite locations, including the Key Lime Bistro, The Green Flash, and more.

While this festival gives songwriters a platform to showcase their music, Michele Berger, the general manager of Tween Waters Island Resort and Spa, said it also offers local businesses on Captiva Island a chance to shine in the spotlight.

“We’re ready for it. The weather is going to be gorgeous today,” said Berger. “We’re excited to bring an extra layer of just positivity and warmth and to see the guests here in the pool and enjoying the weather and enjoying the drinks at the pool bar and the wonderful team that we have here. So we’re just excited to see the island be brought back to life.”

The festival is set to begin at 7 p.m. on Friday.

The festival will run until Sep. 29.
