Punta Gorda residents received various key lime desserts at the 11th-annual Key Lime and Tropical Festival at Fisherman’s Village on Sunday evening.

This event is unique because Punta Gorda is the only area throughout Southwest Florida with a festival dedicated to key limes.

According to several vendors and organizers, this year’s festival featured over 20 vendors throughout the area, selling everything from key lime treats to handmade jewelry, seashells and birds at Fisherman’s Village.

Kathy Burman is the marketing manager for Fisherman’s Village. She said events like this not only bring the community together but also help show community support.

“The idea of the event is to bring the community together,” said Burman. “It’s an opportunity for family and friends to come enjoy in an environment sitting on beautiful Charlotte Harbor and sample, key lime.”

Burman said that the event benefits everyone in the community.

“Most of the vendors that are here, it helps replenish their cost to make their products that they have,” said Burman. “And the same goes for merchants. This type of event not only supports the village, the vendors, the merchants, we think it supports the entire community.”

All of the festivities ended at 9 p.m.
