The City of Sanibel has provided an update regarding the impacts of Hurricane Helene, closing several roads.

According to the City Manager’s Office, strong winds and heavy rain bands are moving over the area, and the weather conditions will continue to deteriorate throughout Thursday.

Portions of roadways throughout the island have experienced flooding, with substantial flooding in the Blind Pass area, Bailey Road and Dixie Beach Boulevard.

Caution is advised while driving on roads.

The city will provide updates throughout the day.

All of the public beach parking lots on Sanibel are closed.

Once the storm passes and the impacts from the storm have been addressed, the parking lots will reopen.
