Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has sent rescue operations and assets to Western North Carolina in the wake of Helene.

During a news conference at Horseshoe Beach in Dixie County on Tuesday, he discussed the aftermath of Helene and outlined some of the things the state is doing in the wake of the storm.

“Very quickly after the storm, our rescue mission concluded rapidly. The rescue efforts were made. They were successful.”

As of Tuesday morning, approximately, 49,301 Floridians are without power, but since the storm, Florida has restored 2,353,584 accounts.

DeSantis said he appointed distribution in impacted areas and is slowing down in areas where the demand is not high.

“There has never been a setup this quickly in the history of Florida,” he said. “Usually there would be nothing done for five days.
