The southbound exit loop ramp from the Caloosahatchee Bridge will be closed for the next four weeks for planned construction work.

The closure began early Wednesday morning.

According to the Florida Department of Transportation, this closure will allow crews to connect the constructed sidewalk along the loop to the existing sidewalk on First Street across from Centennial Park.

FDOT asks drivers traveling southbound to use the following detours to access downtown Fort Myers:

  • Turn right on McGregor Boulevard
  • Turn right on Altamont Avenue
  • Turn right onto West First Street

The closure is expected to last for four weeks if there are no weather delays.
