A new video shows a strange discovery: a man on the roof of a Walmart armed with a gun.

Friday afternoon, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Walmart on Six Mile Cypress Parkway after a caller stated seeing a man on the rooftop armed with a handgun.

When deputies arrived, a Walmart employee told deputies he was checking the AC units after Hurricane Helene passed and noticed a man sleeping within one of the compressor rooms on the roof.

Deputies scaled the roof with guns drawn, not knowing what to expect, but the suspect, Daniel Ray Rios, was found and detained.

Along with miscellaneous items, deputies found a Taurus revolver, which was loaded with six rounds of ammunition. Detectives also located a Winchester .38 Special ammunition box containing 41 rounds of .38 Special and two .38 Special casings.

Deputies found out that the suspect used the AC unit to take cover during Helene the night before.

Rios was arrested for armed trespassing within a structure. So far, there are no details about the gun he was reportedly carrying.

He was released from jail the next day on a $1,500 bond.
