Gov. DeSantis grants funding to school systems affected by Hurricane Milton

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis provided an update regarding recovery efforts following Hurricane Milton in Sarasota.

During a news conference held on Thursday, the governor focused on the impacts on the public school systems due to storm damage.

DeSantis stated that all public school systems in the state have resumed operations since the hurricane struck Florida on Oct. 10.

The governor then turned to disaster relief in the state, mentioning donating $100,000 to Florida police and fire organizations.

The governor announced through the Florida Disaster Fund that an additional $100,000 will be allocated to the school systems most affected by Milton.

Provided below is the list of school systems to receive the additional funding:

  • Hillsborough County
  • Pinellas County
  • Sarasota County
