Police respond to shots fired at Clewiston Walmart

According to the Clewiston Police Department, an active shooter was present at the Walmart in Clewiston Friday night.

Authorities said no one was shot in the incident and a suspect is in custody.

According to Clewiston police, a male and female were in a verbal argument. A male who according to police is possibly not the same male, retrieved a gun and fired shots inside the store.

Several people who were inside the store when this happened said they had to run and hide, and are just traumatized.

Hendry County Sheriff’s Office was on the scene as well.

The police department cleared the Walmart and interviewed witnesses.

Clewiston police said the possible suspect is in custody and more information will be released Saturday in Clewiston.

The Clewiston Police Department said that they believe there is no threat to the public.
