Man accused of stealing several hundred dollars worth of merchandise from Target

A man is accused of going into the Target on San Carlos Boulevard and attempting to steal several hundred dollars worth of merchandise.

This happened on Christmas Eve at around 2 p.m.

Deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said he filled his cart with clothing and other items and then walked out of the store with the stolen goods in hand.

When a loss prevention officer stopped him in the parking lot, the suspect grabbed his backpack and fled on foot.

Surveillance camera footage of the man shopping in the store has been released in the hopes that someone in the public will recognize him.
