Port Charlotte family’s dogs found dead

PORT CHARLOTTE,Fla.-A Charlotte County family is distraught after their two dogs were found dead. Animal control tell WINK News someone shot or poisoned and then dumped the dogs.

“I just want to know what happened… why? Is it just the dogs that are being targeted? I don’t know. Are the kids safe? Is my house safe?I don’t know. Is it just my dogs? or every dog? I want to know why someone would do that,” said Tara Troyano, the owner of the dogs.

When Jack and Blue went missing last Saturday, Troyano and her children searched the Gulf Cove community and filed lost pet reports with animal control. The next day she saw a Facebook post that a neighbor just a few minutes down the road had the dogs. But when she contacted the neighbor, the dogs were gone so they continued to search. A few days later, animal control got the disturbing call. Both dogs were found killed and dumped in an empty cul-de-sac.

“This case is a little different because you typically don’t find two dogs together. you just don’t,” said Lieutenant Brian Jones with Charlotte County Animal Control

Officers say the dogs were likely shot or poisoned. They don’t have any suspects as of right now but they’re asking for the community to help.

“The hardest thing I ever had to do was tell my kids that and watch them cry. It’s one thing to hear they got run over. That’s understandable that can happen accidents happen but never did I ever think that someone would intentionally go ahead and just do this and then dispose of them somewhere,” said Troyano.
