GOP Primary debate candidates dwindle to 4 ahead of Alabama showcaseAffordable housing crisis growing in Fort Myers
LEE COUNTY, Fla.- Hundreds of Southwest Florida families are receiving an early Christmas present. About 2,000 volunteers prepared meals for those in need. Meals of Hope organizers say they will have packed 500,000 meals to feed to the hungry by the end of the event. Volunteer efforts took place at the Harborside Event Center in downtown Fort Myers. The meals are a fortified Bean and rice Casserole, a fortified macaroni and cheese meal, and a fortified soy chicken, rice and vegetable dinner. There are six meals to each bag and the cost is about 20 cents per meal. The Harry Chapin Food Bank will distribute meals to over 160 agencies throughout Southwest Florida.
