Police: man points toy gun at drivers

MARCO ISLAND, Fla.- Scared drivers called 911 Thursday afternoon, saying a man was pointing a gun at them.

Gamariel Gonzales, 33, is now in jail, facing several charges.

Residents say they saw Gonzalez pointing the gun around 1 p.m., near North Collier Boulevard and East Elkcam Circle.

Nearby schools were placed on lock down while police set up a perimeter. Authorities were able to locate and arrest Gonzalez about 40 minutes later.

Officers later located a toy rifle partially hidden in the backyard of a house in the 600 block of 6th Ave, one block away from where Gonzales was taken into custody.

He is now charged with two accounts of aggravated assault and one count of resisting with violence.
