More renovations are unveiled at Hammond Stadium

LEE COUNTY, Fla.- Hammond Stadium revealed a new look to its box office and retail store. This weekend, both opened for the first time to the public since they got a makeover. WINK News got a look at Hammond Stadium’s renovations, just in time for spring training.

Come March 4th, the Minnesota Twins will be back on the diamond at Hammond Stadium for spring training, for their 25th season.

“We were able to get in the store, it’s really nice, they have a lot of new merchandise, it’s more roomy,” said Twins’ fan Gene Molden.

But, the next time you visit to buy tickets, merchandise, or to watch the Twins play, you may notice a dramatic makeover. On Saturday, the box office and retail stored unveiled it’s new look.

“It’s a great little store, we got a couple of t-shirts and pennants, we have four grandsons,” said Carol Pederson.

WINK News caught up with the die hard Twins fans who came to buy merchandise to bring back home to Minnesota. It was their first time to Hammond Stadium.

“We are really good, strong Twins fans. We love the team and are glad we could see the new stadium,” said Pederson.

The CenturyLink Sports Complex underwent $48.5 million in renovations, and people WINK News spoke to say it’s money well spent.

“I think it’s great, we have been watching the renovations for the last four years,” said Molden.

“It’s a lot of upgrades that were needed, and I think fans will be surprised when they come in the future,” Paul Froehle, Vice President of Ticket Operations for the Minnesota Twins.

WINK News is told the new changes are more fan friendly, geared towards customer satisfaction.

“The thing that’s so great about this stadium, is you are up and close with the ball players, it’s very intimate. I love it.”

This is the second phase of a changes made at the ball park. The first phase was completed last year.

“It needed some upgraded and polishing up.”

An open for phase two is set for February 22nd at noon. The first game in March 4th against the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

Hammond stadium has been the Twins’ spring training home since 1991.
