Sun Splash after hours party gets wild

CAPE CORAL, Fla.- Neighbors of Sun Splash Water Park are outraged after a teenager party on Saturday night turned crazy.

“Is Cape Coral going to be known as party central?” asked Brad Raleigh, who lives near Sun Splash.

Lifeguards told the manager they saw sex in the pools and bathroom and kids were drinking in the parking lot. The noise from the after hours party was so loud neighbors say it rattled their windows; some even called police.

WINK News sat down the Sandra Greiner, the manager of Sun Splash to find out what happened.

“The night started out okay. First of all, how it was presented that the event would take place, is not at all how it took place. What we were told is that it would be a lot milder of an event,” said Greiner.

A DJ rented out Sun Splash for the Spring Break party that was held after the park closed. It was sponsored by SUGA 104.5.

“It was extremely loud in my opinion. We have had loud here before but never this loud. The lifeguards need to be able to whistle if there is a medical emergency or something is happening in the water, you could not hear the whistle,” said Greiner.

Not only was the music loud, people were jumping the fence to get inside. Greiner says she regrets having the party.

“We honestly agreed to do this because we felt that it would be a wholesome event for the young people in our community. We are sorry that it did not turn out that way, and seeing that it didn’t, this will never happen again with this group ever again,” said Greiner.

There was no damage to the city owned facility but they did bleach everything she says.
