CAPE CORAL, Fla.- The Cape Coral Police Department is warning residents of a phone scam.
Callers soliciting for donations are claiming to be from CCPD.
The police department wants residents to know that they are not soliciting donations.
If you receive this call, note the phone number from which it was received and contact your local law enforcement agency.
The callers appear to be “spoofing” their caller ID and it will display on your phone as the Cape Coral Police Department.
If you were contacted and you provided any financial information or money to the caller, police urge you to file a report with your local police department or sheriff’s office.
