FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) – A naked man who had been swimming in a South Florida river was rescued after he got stranded atop a raised drawbridge.

Witnesses said the unidentified man was walking across the railroad bridge in Fort Lauderdale Friday morning when it began to rise, forcing him to scamper to the top.

The height was too far for fire department ladders, so two rescue workers climbed the remaining distance and secured the man with a rope harness. The bridge was then slowly lowered back down.

The Florida East Coast Railway bridge has had similar past incidents. In October 2013, a 55-year-old woman taking part in a 5K walk got stuck as it rose. She was in the middle of bridge, and Fort Lauderdale firefighters recused her with a ladder.
