ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (AP) – A 15-year-old being charged as an adult for the murder of a St. Augustine store clerk has pleaded not guilty.

The teen charged with first-degree murder, robbery with a firearm and aggravated assault entered his plea on Thursday in St. Johns County.

If convicted, he faces a possible life sentence without parole.

The teen was arrested on May 19 and charged with killing 29-year-old Malav Desai, who worked at Tobacco and Beverage Express in St. Augustine.

The Florida Times-Union (http://bit.ly/1B9xly0 ) reports that Desai was shot in the head and found by paramedics bleeding on the floor.

Another 16-year-old boy was also arrested and charged with grand theft auto. He drove the getaway car, which the police say the pair had stolen and led authorities on a high-speed chase.
