LEE COUNTY, Fla.- He captured Southwest Florida’s hearts after being found severely abused and left for dead.

New pictures now show Indie in his road to recovery.

Indie was transported back to the Gulf Coast Humane Society Thursday after his surgery at Animal Specialty Hospital of Florida (ASH).

Veterinarians recovered a metal fragment from his head and face that will be investigated by police.

He is in recovery with IV antibiotics and pain management. Vets say Indie is eating and doing well.

He will soon be moved to a permanent foster during his recovery.
