MGN Online Barron Collier High School will observe Patriot’s Day Friday morning with a short ceremony to honor the memories of the fallen and heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001. The ceremony takes place from 6:45 a.m.- 7 a.m. at the high school located on 5600 Cougar Drive in Naples. The event will take place in front of the school at the flag poles. Florida SouthWestern State College is hosting a special event to commemorate September 11 and to honor US military veterans and first responders. The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 11 on the Fort Myers campus of FSW – on the lawn of the south side of Robinson Hall (Building I). There will be a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m., the time the first plane struck the World Trade Center. The Saint Ann faith community will hold a 9/11 Memorial Service in remembrance of the tragedy at 10 a.m. in the Saint Ann School Courtyard located at 542 8th Ave South in Naples. The community of Golden Gate will host a special Commemorative 9-11 Service, “We Will Never Forget,” at 9:30 a.m. at the Golden Gate Government Center, 4701 Golden Gate Parkway. This will be the 11th year that the community has hosted a service in remembrance of those who lost their lives to the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on America. The Bonita Springs Patriot Day Service will be held at 6 p.m. at the Liles Hotel Plaza on September 11. The service will pay tribute to the valiant firefighters, police officers, emergency personnel and citizens who were involved in the September 11, 2001 attacks. The Bonita Springs Fire Control and Rescue District, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Veterans Advisory Committee, and the City of Bonita Springs unite to host the event. The Southwest Florida Military Museum and Library is holding a 9/11 Tribute Event from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 4820 Leonard St. in Cape Coral. The Parade of Heroes takes place Saturday, Sept. 12 at 10 a.m. It begins at Lafayette Street and Cape Coral Street West and will end at the Museum on Leonard Street.
