Raid leads to arrest in FMB bank robbery

FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. – Lee County Sheriff’s Office robbery detectives have arrested a suspect following a raid on a hotel room.

Vincent Aliotta, 48, is facing charges of robbery without a weapon, possession of marijuana and providing a false name to law enforcement. Detectives found a large amount of cash after executing a search warrant on his hotel room at 2700 Estero Blvd, Room 9.  LCSO also says Aliotta is wanted on an out of state warrant from New York.

Deputies are investigating a bank robbery at the Wells Fargo bank located at 2815 Estero Blvd.

Authorities say a man entered the bank around 1 p.m. and handed a note to the teller demanding cash before fleeing the scene.

The suspect is described as a man between 50-60 years old, with a goatee, wearing a striped shirt, jeans, cowboy hat, and sunglasses. He was last seen on a bicycle leaving the scene.

No injuries were reported during the robbery.
